This week we did the classic "Make Your Own Butter" activity. Surprisingly, many of my kiddos had never done it before! With only 4 ingredients, you can't go wrong!
Remember to shake MORE after the butter reaches the whipped cream stage. The butter will start to harden and form a ball in the jar. That's when you know it's time to drain the buttermilk! I gave each child a recipe card and they had to read what comes next!
We enjoyed the butter on some crescent rolls we made in our classroom sandwich maker. I labeled, dated and sent home the jars with each child to enjoy with their families!
I must say though, that my paras and I did a lot more shaking than the kiddos, so be prepared! :)
