This month I will begin implementing my new social skills group program "Crunch Bunch" and I am probably a little overly excited.
You see, I work for a collaborative. My classroom is nestled in between some general education classroom and rarely got acknowledged in the beginning of the year. I started stressing about how much of a crisis this could be for my students... my students NEED peers to learn! Who better to teach them social skills then in the natural environment with their typical same age peers! I started building relationships with teachers, brought my kids to introduce themselves to other classrooms and then finally asked a few teachers to collaborate. It was a hit! One classroom had even just read a book about a 5th grade class that was working with a collaborative classroom- her students were actually begging to do the same! What a perfect opportunity!
So I got to work developing information packets for all parents, meeting with teachers, and developing a program. I have had so much fun with this already and cannot wait to start facilitating the group! When I begin my lesson plans for Crunch Bunch I will post those as well!
You can find my CRUNCH BUNCH packet in my Teachers Pay Teachers store beginning tonight! I tried to post an editable form but the formatting was off, so I left spaces for you all to fill in the blanks. Check it out and please let me know if I can edit it in any way for you!
